PV capacity in Poland reached 1.83 GW
Covid-19 doesn't interfere with the work of any solar power plant. This statement allows us to say the results of electricity generation from solar power plants in Poland.
According to information on Polish grid operator Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE), the country reached 1.83 GW of solar installations in April. It says that in March and April 2020, Poland grows total solar energy capacity to 8,1% and get 236.2 MW of new systems installed.
"The installed capacity in #PV in the PPS on 1.05.2020 amounted to 1832.7 MW (based on data submitted to the TSO). It is an increase of 181.42 percent. Year on year and by 8.1 percent in the period from April 2020 to May 2020", said Polish grid operator.
For comparison, in the first two months of 2020, January and February, Poland got 300 MW from PV systems, according to IB Centre's information.
Last year's strong growth was mainly driven by incentives for rooftop PV and the extension of net metering access to businesses. The Polish government commissions commercial and industrial PV and large scale solar through renewable energy auctions.
