Michigan State University researchers plan to create transparent solar panels which can be applied to windows and generate electricity from solar energy.
Moving global energy consumption away from fossil fuels will require innovative and cost-effective renewable energy technologies. Researchers at Michigan State University offered an innovative approach. They have developed a transparent luminescent solar concentrator that can be placed over a window to harvest solar energy. However, it will not affect the overall transmittance of light. This solution seem to cause a true revolution in the solar energy sector.
“Highly transparent solar cells represent the wave of the future for new solar applications,” said Richard Lunt, the Johansen Crosby Endowed Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at MSU.
