Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency of Ukraine in June - DIGEST
The "Old Sambir-2" wind power plant, which has a capacity of 20.7 MW, will start its operation this fall. In the near future another construction of a wind farm in the Lviv region is also expected. Two objects of the wind farm "Old Sambir-1" already work in the Lviv region, each with a capacity of 6.6 MW. Over the past year, these wind farms produced 23.1 million kWh of electricity.
The new 11 MW solar power plant was put into operation by KNESS company in the Kherson region. Currently, Kherson region has already installed solar power plants with a total capacity of 51.86 MW.
In June, TIU Canada began the construction of a solar power plant on the territory of the Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant. Future PV plant will have a capacity of 10 MW. General Contractor of the PV plant is Helios Strategia.
PJSC "Ukrrigidroenergo", which operates all large hydroelectric power stations located on the Ukrainian sections of the Dnipro and Dniester rivers, intends to build solar power stations with a capacity of 80 MW each.
The law on energy efficiency of buildings was adopted by the Ukrainian parliament in the second reading, laying out legal and organizational grounds to perform the audit of buildings for further renovations with final aim of increasing energy efficiency of constructions. The law introduces a range of monitoring instruments for household systems and construction features and methods of financial assistance for the major energy-saving renovations. In addition, the law, being a part of energy reform package, brings in the legal framework to issue the energy-efficiency reports, needed to be considered to the external finding via the Energy Efficiency Fund.
In January-May 2017, the demand for electric cars increased 2.8 times compared to the same period last year. However, in 2016, the share of new cars in electric cars was almost 45%, and for the current period - only 18%. Nissan Leaf remains the leader in the Ukrainian electromotive market.
